IICA, Coronado – This Friday, February 20, agricultural experts and authorities gathered for the Consultation and Validation Workshop of the Action Plan for the National Bioinputs Strategy, a key initiative aiming to transform the production and use of biological inputs in Costa Rica over the next decade.

The event, developed with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), IICA, and GIZ, aligns directly with the objectives of the FONTAGRO project "Development and Use of Bioinputs for Sustainable Agriculture," which promotes the adoption of biological technologies to reduce dependence on synthetic agrochemicals and strengthen climate resilience.

Key highlights of the session:

Long-Term Vision: The plan projects the development of the bioinputs sector in Costa Rica through 2035.
Governance: The structure designed to coordinate efforts between the public sector, private sector, and academia was presented.
Participatory Validation: Using the "World Café" methodology, participants worked in thematic groups to align strategic goals with the technical and operational realities of the field.

This validation represents a critical step for Costa Rica to lead innovation in sustainable agriculture within the region, ensuring that technical knowledge translates into an accessible and efficient supply of bioinputs for national producers.
