Costa Rica is the world's leading exporter of fresh pineapple and a benchmark for bananas, coffee, palm oil, and preserved fruits. Costa Rica also produces corn, beans, rice, cacao and sugarcane. Efforts are underway to strengthen the sector through policies that incentivize productive transformation linked to biodiversity and soil quality.
The regional genetic improvement network in Latin America and the Caribbean will lead the practical workshop: "Establishing Improved Sweet Potato Populations."
