The symposium “Climate change adaptation in family farming,” convened by FONTAGRO with INIA Chile and supported by the IDB, IICA and the GEF, brought together specialists from ECLAC, FAO, CATIE, the IDB, IICA, the CGIAR’s CCAFS program and the University of California, Davis, in Santiago. Panels reviewed climate change impacts in the region and opportunities for international cooperation to build resilience. At the close, participants presented the Santiago Declaration, which urges governments to increase investment and sets priorities for closer cooperation among member countries. It was the first of the regional symposia driven by the project “Climate technology transfer mechanisms and networks.”
