Researchers and representatives of national research institutes shared progress on initiatives that help family farmers produce more with less vulnerability: PROMECAFE-IICA’s early warning system for coffee rust; technology innovations and biointensive farming for Central America’s Dry Corridor; INIA Chile’s traditional seed variety center; family livestock systems in Uruguay and Argentina; sustainable dairy intensification (LACTIS); and a CIAT innovation platform to boost adoption of climate-smart agriculture. The week also included a workshop on MIT open-source technologies to support agricultural adaptation, such as ultra-low-energy drip irrigation.
