Across four symposia and four workshops, 272 scientists and officials from 23 countries set priorities for family farming adaptation. A review of 92 studies and consultation with 35 experts identified 23 key innovations in water use, soil management, microclimates, biodiversity, animal feed and waste management. Eleven high-impact innovation cases were documented and shared. The eight projects implemented achieved higher productivity and efficiency, with less environmental degradation and lower farmer vulnerability. The regional platform for sustainable livestock intensification brings together 600 people from 25 countries and has trained 483 professionals from 18 countries. In addition, four studies are helping attract large investments to scale up technologies. In total, more than 1,000 scientists, decision-makers, farmers and entrepreneurs benefited directly, and benefits are expected to reach more than 30,000 people.
