As part of the “Gran Chaco Livestock: More Calves, Less Methane” project, virtual follow-up meetings are being held with technical teams from Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay to support the baseline data collection process at pilot sites.
The main objective of these meetings is to monitor progress in data entry and validation using the Livestock Management App, developed under a previous FONTAGRO-funded project. This tool enables the systematic recording of key information on cow-calf systems, including herd structure, reproductive indicators, health management, and forage availability.
During the sessions, technicians share updates from their respective sites, exchange experiences using the app, and address operational questions with the coordination team. Common criteria are also reviewed to ensure data consistency and quality—essential for building a robust baseline that will allow accurate measurement of project impacts over time.
Establishing this baseline is a critical step in the project, as it will enable the evaluation of improvements in productivity and methane emission intensity resulting from the adoption of proposed technologies.
The use of digital tools such as the Livestock Management App not only facilitates data collection and analysis, but also strengthens technical capacities and promotes data-driven decision-making.
These virtual meetings will continue throughout the initial stages of the project, fostering collaboration among technical teams and ensuring coordinated implementation across the Gran Chaco region.
