The project led by FONTAGRO (ATN/RF-21536-RG) had a prominent participation in the XXX Congress of the Latin American Potato Association (ALAP) and the XI Ecuadorian Potato Congress, held in 2025, establishing itself as a key platform for scientific coordination in the Andean region.
The event brought together more than 800 participants from 15 countries, including researchers, producers, and agricultural sector stakeholders, who shared advances in research, innovation, and potato crop management. Within this framework, the project “Strengthening the Management of the Potato Purple Top Complex in the Andean Region” contributed through technical presentations, workshops, posters, and a specialized symposium.
Key topics addressed during the congress included phytopathology, integrated crop management, phytosanitary monitoring, and the economic impact of the Potato Purple Top Complex, considered one of the main threats to production in the region.
The project’s participation helped strengthen collaboration networks among Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, and Chile, while promoting knowledge exchange and joint planning of future actions to address this agricultural challenge.
