Hortalizas Ebenezer was started a few years earlier by a group of women in Guanacaste who wanted to improve their community’s eating habits. Today it is a regional benchmark for protected horticulture. The visit let researchers see the benefits of these structures in the field: higher output per square meter, better quality, fewer pests and the ability to plant year-round.
