The regional workshop, organized by INIA Remehue, combined technical presentations with a visit to Lemuy Island, where the teams learned about the farming systems of native potato growers and practiced sampling with FTA cards. The countries agreed to standardize field and laboratory protocols, centralize molecular analysis of samples at INTA Argentina, use a common farmer survey and harmonize their technology transfer approaches. “It is a great opportunity to learn about the work being done in other countries and how they tackle late blight. I have learned a lot today,” said Marcia Moncada, an advisor to native potato growers in Chiloé.
