FONTAGRO selected the project to build an early warning system that helps family farmers manage potato late blight in a preventive and sustainable way. The initiative brings together INIA Chile, as lead institution, with INTA Argentina, INIAP Ecuador, IDIAP Panama and IICA, along with public and private partners. It has a total investment of USD 896,648, including USD 300,000 from FONTAGRO, and a 42-month timeline. Its goal is to cut pesticide use by half and lower production costs by at least 20%, protecting the health of farming families and the environment.
