The meeting brought together university authorities and researchers from Argentina and Bolivia to discuss the project's objectives. The initiative aims to contribute to the sustainability of agricultural systems by studying soil organic carbon and assessing the role of service crops.
As part of the project, UAGRM contributes to soil sample processing and analysis, including measurements of bulk density, moisture, and mineralizable nitrogen, as well as the study of particulate organic matter (POM) and mineral-associated organic matter (MAOM). Samples are also prepared for carbon and nitrogen analysis at Cornell University in the United States.
These activities help strengthen the University's scientific and technical capacity, support student training, and generate relevant information for regional agricultural production systems.
In addition, new laboratory equipment purchased with project funding was acquired in October 2026, helping expand the University's soil analysis capabilities.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between universities, researchers, and agricultural stakeholders in promoting more sustainable farming systems.
