Agriculture is a cornerstone of Paraguay's economy, with key crops such as soybeans, corn, rice, and wheat. The Paraguayan Institute of Agricultural Technology (IPTA) promotes the development of technologies geared towards sustainable production adapted to local conditions. Among its main advances are community seed banks, efficient soil and water management, crop rotation, and technological packages for crops such as tomatoes, cassava, sweet potatoes, strawberries, and other family farm crops. IPTA also develops wheat and soybean varieties adapted to subtropical zones, resistant to diseases, and with good performance under water stress.
