FONTAGRO is pleased to announce the closing of the 2026 Call for Proposals, which has received a total of 130 proposals from Regional Consortia for Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and Spain. The objective of this call is to identify regional projects in R&D&I that promote increased productivity, profitability, and competitiveness with a lower environmental footprint in the agri-food systems of LAC. Projects that generate high-potential technologies and innovations for adoption and scaling will be prioritized, consolidating more efficient and sustainable production models.
Among the organizations that applied as co-executors, Colombia stands out with participation in 78 consortia, followed by Argentina with 48, Ecuador with 32, and Peru with 31. Other contributors include Uruguay with 22, Spain with 20, Chile with 17, Bolivia with 12, Costa Rica with 11, Paraguay with 8, Venezuela with 6, and Panama and Honduras with 5 each, and the Dominican Republic with 3.
Furthermore, the consortia incorporated institutions from Europe, North America, and other non-FONTAGRO member countries as partner organizations, promoting international cooperation. This includes 11 from the United States, 4 from Brazil, 3 from Mexico, 2 from Italy and Belgium, as well as 1 from each of the following countries: El Salvador, Canada, Guatemala, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
