Inspired by the Spanish Bioeconomy Strategy, presented in Almería, the initiative aims to help countries share strategies, policies, projects and success stories for the sustainable use of their agricultural, forestry, fisheries and biodiversity resources. The project “Platform for the development of the bioeconomy in Latin America and the Caribbean” was led by IICA in Peru, with Spain’s National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA) as co-executor and INIA Chile as an associate. With an investment of USD 69,000, including USD 30,000 from FONTAGRO, the platform seeks to generate knowledge, promote innovation and create business opportunities that drive rural development.
