At a webinar organized by IICA, FONTAGRO and the Andalusian Technology Corporation (CTA), results were presented from a study with specialists from FONTAGRO’s 15 member countries on the factors that favor the use of residues and “waste” through bioeconomy technologies. The focus is on family farming, which in Latin America comprises some 15 million production units on about 400 million hectares. This agenda has kept growing: in 2023, FONTAGRO and IICA launched the 4th Contest of Successful Bioeconomy Innovation Cases, recognizing experiences across the region that already create value from biological resources.
