Soil organic carbon accounts for much of a field’s productive capacity and is the largest carbon reservoir in the biosphere. The platform estimates how much carbon can be captured through practices such as:

• including service crops;

• integrating crops and livestock;

• improving water and nutrient availability;

• restoring sown pastures and grasslands.

These options strengthen the resilience of livestock systems to climate change.
