On 5 and 6 October, INTA’s Experimental Station in Ingeniero Juárez, Formosa Province (Argentina), hosted a workshop to build an innovation platform for the Gran Chaco Americano, the result of the trinational alliance fostered by the FONTAGRO–PROADAPT partnership. The platform brings together organized civil society, the private sector, local governments and the national institutes INTA (Argentina), IPTA (Paraguay) and INIAF (Bolivia). FONTAGRO was represented by its Administrator, Eugenia Saini.
Over two days, participants developed the action plan for the “Innovation network for rural development of the Gran Chaco Americano in the context of climate change”, which will strengthen integrated silvo-apicultural-livestock systems and the smart management of native forests. Knowledge sharing will help decision-makers, technicians and farming families identify and apply adaptation strategies for honey and livestock production, and will bring more family farmers the innovations they need to produce sustainably.
