During the first semester of 2026, the project team completed the upgrade of the irrigation system in the experimental cocoa plot at Zamorano Pan-American Agricultural School. The intervention, carried out with the active participation of students, included improvements to the main and secondary irrigation lines, replacement of emitters, and a comprehensive hydraulic performance assessment of the system. These enhancements increase the precision of water application and strengthen the experimental conditions for studying the water dynamics of cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.). The information generated will support the determination of field capacity and the calibration of automated irrigation strategies aimed at improving water-use efficiency in cocoa production.
