Participants of FORAGRO’s Meeting

Washington, D.C., November 21, 2016.– On November 16 and 17, 2016, a meeting of the Board of Executive Directors of the Forum for the Americas on Agricultural Research and Technology Development (FORAGRO) took place in Costa Rica. The purpose of the meeting, which was hosted by the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), was to discuss a proposal to reorganize the forum.

FONTAGRO has been supporting the proposal to restructure FORAGRO since 2015. In this meeting FONTAGRO was represented by its President, Engineer Armando Bustillo, and its Executive Secretary, Hugo Li Pun, PhD.

During the meeting, the proposal to restructure the forum—including its governance, membership, and possible funding and financing mechanisms—and the idea to request support from the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA) were accepted.
