On October 31st, an important webinar took place focused on strategies for scaling FONTAGRO projects, bringing together prominent panelists from academia and industry along with over a hundred members and researchers from FONTAGRO projects. The goal was to explore strategies that facilitate the transition of agro-food innovations into sustainable business models.
The event featured experts such as Jeremías Lachman - Professor at the University of Buenos Aires; Gabriel Tinghitella - Head of the Innovation Area at CREA; Federico Bert - Coordinator of Agro Digitalization at IICA and co-founder of several agtechs; Francisco Buchara - Managing Partner at SF500 - Science Fund; Rubén Echavarría - Senior Advisor in Agricultural Development at the Gates Foundation; Martín Oesterheld - Senior Operations Specialist; and Eugenia Saini - Executive Secretary of FONTAGRO. These panelists shared their extensive experience in innovation and agro-industry, providing a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
During the panel discussion, several crucial topics were addressed. Success stories in scaling projects within the private sector were shared, along with strategies for transforming innovations in agriculture into sustainable business models. The common challenges facing initiatives in transitioning from research to commercialization were also discussed.
This conversation led by FONTAGRO highlighted the importance of business scaling in the agro-food sector and the need to create public-private partnerships that enable the management of investment funds for high-impact projects, projecting a collaborative approach for the future of agriculture in the region.
