Throughout 2026, FONTAGRO’s Technical Administrative Secretariat (STA) is implementing a training program designed to strengthen the capabilities of teams responsible for managing research, development, and innovation (R&D&i) projects linked to agrifood systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Launched in February 2026, the initiative has so far held 26 one-hour virtual sessions, attended by more than 100 leading researchers, Knowledge Management and Communication (KMC) officers, and administrative staff from institutions across FONTAGRO’s 15 member countries.
The program comprehensively addresses key aspects of project planning, execution, and monitoring, combining technical and administrative content with tools designed to strengthen the generation, management, communication, and utilization of the knowledge produced.
The sessions are organized into modules covering topics such as financial planning and execution, technical project aspects, deliverable submission and monitoring, use of the FONTAGRO Platform, and Knowledge Management and Communication strategies. In this way, the training seeks to foster a holistic understanding of the processes and responsibilities involved throughout the project cycle.
Beyond mere knowledge transfer, these gatherings have become spaces for exchange and learning among teams from different countries and institutions, enabling the sharing of experiences, the resolution of queries, and the promotion of a shared vision regarding strategic project management.
Through this initiative, FONTAGRO continues to consolidate capacity building as a cross-cutting component of its work, ensuring that knowledge generated via co-financed projects is managed, communicated, and utilized strategically to contribute to the transformation of agrifood systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
