This meeting, led by the Technical and Administrative Secretariat of FONTAGRO, brought together more than 20 GCyC specialists from the member National Agricultural Research Institutes (INIAs) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).
The Second Meeting of the Knowledge and Communication Management Committee (GCyC) organized by FONTAGRO took place on April 30, 2026, aiming to promote the exchange of experiences and the adoption of good practices in scientific communication, consolidating a collaborative knowledge ecosystem in the region.
The meeting was inaugurated by Eugenia Saini, Executive Secretary of FONTAGRO, who welcomed the panelists and attendees, emphasizing the importance of effective communication in the scientific field to reach a broader audience. During the event, specific examples of successful initiatives that have positively impacted audiences were presented, such as the innovative use of social media, dynamic infographics, and storytelling narratives.
Among the distinguished panelists were Luis Mayolo, Head of the Communications Advisory Office at AGROSAVIA - Colombia; Carlos Poémape, Head of the Communications and Institutional Image Unit at INIA – Peru; Inés Fornos, Director of Technology Transfer and Communication at INIA – Uruguay; and Jorgelina Traut, National Coordinator of Institutional Communication at INTA – Argentina, who shared valuable insights into their respective communication strategies.

- - AGROSAVIA – Colombia generates content in collaboration with a digital influencer to announce its events.
- - INIA – Peru is utilizing Artificial Intelligence tools to create animated audiovisual content.
- - INIA – Uruguay creates a dynamic narrative through storytelling to present its projects.
- - INTA – Argentina designs dynamic and simple audiovisual content to educate about its innovations.
Michael Hernández and Adrián Orsetti, Communication Specialists at FONTAGRO, also contributed to the dialogue, highlighting the importance of contemporary tools such as artificial intelligence, which they are using to create engaging and effective content, including the Science Voices and FONTCAST initiatives.
