Notes
- The Terms of Reference for the 2026 Call was publicly announced in December 2025. This means that interested Regional Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) Consortia should begin the project design process and submit the final Word and Excel documents before March 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM (Eastern Time, Washington D.C.).
- The objective of this call for proposals is to identify regional consortia for research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) that promote increased productivity, profitability, and competitiveness with a lower environmental footprint in the agri-food systems of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Projects that generate technologies and innovations with high potential for adoption and scaling will be prioritized, particularly those capable of demonstrating concrete impacts on the ground and consolidating more efficient, sustainable, and competitive productive models at national and regional levels.
- The projects to be submitted must align with at least one of the Flagship Programs of the MTP 2025-2030. Each program has specific lines of action and indicators for results and impact. For this call, the Flagship Programs of FONTAGRO that will be considered are: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- To officially register your project in accordance with the guidelines, you will have a timeframe from December 15, 2025, to March 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM (Eastern Time, Washington D.C.). Projects that have not been officially and completely submitted (Word + Excel) will not be considered.
- This call mechanism will take place in a single phase. Teams should submit the final project with all sections completed without exception, in “Word” format and tables in “Excel” format, as specified in the guidelines. Winning projects will be announced between July and August 2026, or once the Board of Directors formally expresses the allocation of funding in a resolution.
- It is requested that once the project is registered in the system, you send an email to fontagro@iica.int to request confirmation of receipt, and always before the closing date and time of the call. Confirmation requests on the same day as the closing of the call cannot be accommodated on that day.
