Virtual Course for Profiles and Projects of FONTAGRO
Executive Summary
The Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology (FONTAGRO) was created in 1998 by 15 countries and is an example of sustainable cooperation, aimed at promoting agricultural technological innovation in its member countries. FONTAGRO has been supporting a portfolio of more than 160 projects and initiatives in the region, having successfully mobilized resources from different donors, including the IDB, the World Bank, and the governments of Korea, Japan, and New Zealand, among others. Recent evaluations by FONTAGRO have highlighted capacity building as one of the greatest attributes of projects financed by the Fund. Since its inception, FONTAGRO has carried out several training activities on an ad hoc basis through the Technical Administrative Secretariat (STA), especially on issues of preparation of profiles and proposals for the Fund's Calls. In recent years, capacity building events have also been organized within the projects of the member countries. The objective of this project was to strengthen the capacity of the proponents in the research and innovation community and the academia of FONTAGRO member countries for the preparation of proposals within the framework of the FONTAGRO calls.
