Promotion for the consumption of beans rich in iron and its effect on the acceptance and adoption of the producer and the commercial vision

Within the framework of the Festival of Flavors, held at the David International Fair, the Institute of Agricultural Innovation of Panama (IDIAP) presented the project “Regional Alliances for the Dissemination of Iron-Rich Beans in Latin America and the Caribbean”, financed by FONTAGRO-BID.

This initiative aims to increase the adoption rate of this technology among producers and strengthen the value chain of iron-rich beans. In this context, the project has scheduled two key market investigations:

  • Consumer behavior regarding “Nutritional Marketing of Iron-Rich Beans”.
  • Marketers' perspective on the differentiation of iron-rich beans.

During the activity, attendees were able to learn more about the benefits of iron-rich beans and their impact on healthy eating. As part of the promotion, tastings of innovative recipes made with this product were offered, including bean ceviche with vegetables, bean and chocolate brownies, bean cookies, and bean-filled empanadas. These preparations highlighted their versatility and aroused great interest among the public.

  • The IDIAP will continue to promote strategic actions to improve the production of iron-rich beans, promoting their consumption as a key nutritional alternative for food security in the region. With these initiatives, the institution reaffirms its commitment to sustainable agricultural development and food security.
