A participatory workshop was held with the Mapuche community Nehuen Co to strengthen their agricultural production with a sustainable approach based on traditional knowledge. The event brought together producers and technicians, who worked on land-use planning and the management of pastures, cattle, and sheep.

During the workshop, a community map was created to identify Innovation Units (IU) and their main challenges. Strategies for forage species recovery, livestock management improvement, and wool valorization were discussed.

One key focus was integrating the Mapuche worldview into production management. The importance of the IEN (guardian spirits) was highlighted, and the need to strengthen ceremonies and traditional practices related to production was raised.

Additionally, a community herbarium documenting local flora and its traditional uses was presented, reinforcing the link between ancestral knowledge and sustainability.

This collaborative space helped consolidate community commitments to advance sustainable farming, strengthen cultural identity, and promote Nehuen Co’s autonomy.
