On November 14, an important agreement was finalized with the Cheuque Nguilliu Mapuche community, located in Icalma, a town in the commune of Lonquimay, in the La Araucanía Region of Chile. This community is part of the Mapuche-Pehuenche people, known for their deep connection to nature and their valuable cultural heritage.
The agreement establishes a series of commitments aimed at promoting sustainable development in harmony with the community’s cultural identity and natural environment. The fundamental principles of the agreement include:
- Clear objectives: A precise definition of the project’s goals.
- Transparency: The establishment of specific roles for all parties involved.
- Innovation with identity: The selection of Innovation Units (IUs) that integrate both technical and community-based criteria.
- Active collaboration: The designation of community leaders to oversee the IUs.
- Consensual communication: Ensuring that each step of the project reflects the opinions and visions of the community.
Soon, the Cheuque Nguilliu community will gather to define the Innovation Units (IUs) and the associated aspects of the second phase of the project, which will include the characterization and definition of the technologies to be implemented. This agreement aims to strengthen the link between innovation and respect for Mapuche tradition, promoting solutions that will benefit the community in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.
