On November 13, a fundamental agreement was signed with the Huayquillán Mapuche community, located in the Colipilli area in the province of Neuquén, Argentina. This area is about 60 kilometers south of Chos Malal and is characterized by its vast land, which presents both challenges and opportunities for the community.
The agreement with Huayquillán establishes a series of principles and clear objectives to promote local development in a sustainable manner, while respecting the community's identity. The pillars of the agreement are as follows:
- Clear objectives: Specific goals for the project were defined.
- Transparency: Clear roles were established for the parties involved.
- Innovation with identity: Innovation Units (IUs) were selected based on both technical and community-based criteria.
- Active collaboration: Community leaders were assigned to oversee the implementation of the IUs.
- Consensual communication: Each step of the project will ensure that it respects and reflects the community's voice and vision.
Within the framework of this agreement, three community Innovation Units were defined within the Huayquillán territory: Colipilli Arriba, Colipilli Abajo, and the community sector in the middle area of the region. In Colipilli Arriba, the focus will be on addressing the water issue, while in Colipilli Abajo, the work will involve animal enclosure. The specific focus for the middle area is still being defined.
The second phase of the project, which will begin at the end of March, will focus on the characterization and definition of the most suitable technologies for each of these areas. This agreement represents an important step in strengthening the link between the community and innovative developments, promoting concrete solutions to local challenges.
