Collaborative project that seeks to strengthen sustainable livestock systems that are resilient to climate change

First stage of the project, signing of agreements with the communities of Argentina and Chile.

We are working on a collaborative project that seeks to strengthen sustainable livestock systems that are resilient to climate change, respecting and enhancing the knowledge of the Mapuche communities on both sides of the mountain range.

How do we do it?
Through participatory meetings, we established agreements based on Prior Informed Consent, in line with international treaties on working with Indigenous Peoples. These agreements include:

Clear objectives: Definition of the purposes of the project.
Transparency: Specific roles for all parties involved.
Innovation with identity: Selection of Innovation Units (UI) under technical and community criteria.
Active collaboration: Designation of community leaders to lead the UIs.
Consensual dissemination: We ensure that each step of the project respects the voice and vision of the communities.

This joint work not only promotes the adaptation and mitigation of climate change, but also reinforces the sovereignty of communities over their territories and knowledge.
