FONTAGRO: Innovations to reduce emissions in beef production

Published at: 25 September 2024

Successful webinar on innovations to reduce emissions in beef production

On May 28, this initiative started its activities with a webinar broadcast through the FONTAGRO channel on YouTube, to share the generalities, main results and impacts, which included the participation of leading experts in the field of sustainable livestock farming, who presented various initiatives and technologies aimed at mitigating the environmental impact of beef production.

The implementation of the three technological innovations foresees positive impacts on the population dedicated to meat production based on pastoral livestock systems in Latin America and the Caribbean, such as the reduction per animal of at least 10% of CO2 equivalent emissions and the increase of up to 10% in weight gain (kg/day), driven by the increase in efficiency in the use of forage and animal resources, optimization of ruminal fermentation and mitigation of enteric CH4 emissions.

This project started activities with a webinar

One of the highlights of the event was the discussion around innovative practices and technologies that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from livestock farming, as well as strategies to improve the efficiency of natural resource use in this sector.
