The installation of automatic weather stations in the pilot areas of the project was completed

Published at: 21 April 2023

The stations were installed in the pilot areas San José y Canelones (Uruguay), Tisma y El Sauce (Nicaragua) y Colonia El Simbolar y Nueva Francia (Santiago del Estero, Argentina)

The installation of the stations was carried out by researchers and extension agents participating in the project. In addition to the benefits directly related to the project (improving the estimation of the water requirements of the crops that are monitored in the pilot areas), the stations will provide additional services, such as: estimating, according to the trends of the meteorological variables, if there will be predisposing conditions for the appearance of insects, pests or diseases; define the time to cut crops and pastures for silage or baling, according to atmospheric humidity; define the appropriate moment of application of phytosanitary products, according to the intensity and direction of the wind. 400 farmers from Uruguay, 250 from Nicaragua and 900 from Argentina will benefit.
