The team of researchers in favor of the dissemination of knowledge and the articulation with the field, provides training to farmers' associations in the region of Santander.
Under the framework of the project "Nanofertilizers in the soil and nitrous oxide emissions" researchers from the Universidad Industrial de Santander - Sede Málaga, on March 5th, 2023, conducted a training in the municipality of Cerrito, Santander on soil and grassland management to members of ACAMCO - Asociación Campesina Coexistiendo con el Cóndor (Coexisting with the Condor Famer Association).
During the event, topics related to physical, chemical and biological properties of soils in the region, pasture rotation systems, the importance of soil analysis and decision making based on their interpretation were developed.
The objective was to increase the theoretical and practical knowledge of farmers to implement more efficient processes that include a correct application of amendments and balanced fertilizers, according to the nutrient supply in the soil, the nutritional requirements of the plant and the estimated efficiency.
In addition, methodological, technical and logistical aspects were addressed for the correct collection, handling and transportation of soil samples, which is a key stage for an appropriate diagnosis, and the subsequent formulation-dosage of fertilizers.
