- The annual monitoring sampling of productivity and botanical composition of pastures with legumes, of the dairy and livestock units of INIA la Estanzuela was completed. The samples have been sent to Germany for the determination of 15N / 14N. With these data, the amount of N fixed during a year in grazed pastures that are used in experimental fields will be determined.
- Samples of service crops with and without legumes were completed. The samples have been sent to Germany for the determination of 15N / 14N. With these data, the report of N of biological fixation to systems with a high proportion of agricultural crops will be estimated.
- A prediction equation (R2 0.95) of botanical composition (% legumes) was fitted in dried and ground samples using NIRS. This greatly reduces processing times, errors, and labor cost.
- An experiment was installed to evaluate the mitigating effect of natural field grazing diets improved with legumes with high tannin content (Lotus INIA e-tanin) on N2O emissions from bovine urine. Closed-flow static chambers were installed for the measurement of N2O, urine was collected and treatments were applied in the chambers and adjoining plots. Samples of N2O, soil and plant have begun and they have been sent to the laboratory for different determinations.
- 15 pairs of "natural field" vs. "Natural field improved with legumes and phosphate fertilization" to determine organic carbon stock in soils at 1 m depth.
