Presentation of results associated with N2O emissions by Eng. Gabriela Perez

Published at: 11 October 2021

The agricultural engineer Gabriela Perez presented part of the results associated with her doctoral studies at the Doctorate Expo, held in September by the Escuela Para Graduados Ing. Agr. Alberto Soriano from the Faculty of Agronomy, dependent on the University of Buenos Aires.

Eng. Perez's studies seek to quantify and analyze N2O emissions and carbon storage, produced in hydro-halomorphic soils of grasslands dedicated to livestock with direct grazing with and without the presence of Lotus tenuis.

Her research seeks to construct N2O emission factors for grazing cattle in Argentina and to evaluate the potential for carbon sequestration in systems with high coverage of the legume Lotus tenuis. Both studies are highly relevant to the possible future scenarios of demand for sustainably produced animal protein, which includes mitigation of climate change.
