Growers and local institutions choose demonstration lot in Bella Vista, Corrientes province, Argentina

The meeting was held at Colonia Tres de Abril Agro technical School in Bella Vista, Corrientes province, Argentina, on November 27, 2019.

Representatives from the following institutions attended the meeting: National Service of Agrifood Health and Quality (SENASA), National Institute of Seeds (INASE), Production Secretariat of the Bella Vista Municipality, Production Secretariat of the Tres de Abril Municipality, Undersecretariat of Family Farming, INTA Bella Vista, Ministry of Production of the province of Corrientes, Association of Citrus Growers of Bella Vista and Small producers Association “3 de Abril”.

Alcides Aguirre, researcher at INTA Bella Vista and FONTAGRO INTA  demonstration lots manager in the four countries involved in  the platform (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia), presented the project, its objectives and scope, and participatory selection protocol. Methodology Presentation of, generated deep interest among growers.

Attendees worked in small groups in order to choose demonstration lot and host. In plenary, growers agreed to propose Ramón Benitez, local small grower.

Finally, technical personnel of the Corrientes Ministry of Production carried out a training session regarding Good Agricultural Practices.
