Carlos U. Leon Velarde has worked as member of the Production Systems and the Environment Subprogram at CIP in Lima. He is an Animal Husbandry specialist with over 30 years experience in international agriculture research and development. In CIP he was coordinator of several projects within the approach of agricultural production systems identifying products with comparative advantage and market orientation.
He initiated his career in the National Agrarian University as professor and worked for IICA and CATIE; and also was consultant for different international institutions related to agricultural research oriented to rural development. Carlos holds a Engineer on Animal husbandry from National Agrarian University La Molina, Peru and M.Sc. in Animal Production from IICA Turrialba, Costa Rica and a PhD in Animal Breeding from the Guelph University, Ontario, Canada.
