Biography

Dr David Ellis, the Genebank Manager at the International Potato Center (CIP), is a CGIAR Research Center based in Lima, Peru as he shares insights on the importance of preserving crop diversity. Further information about the work of the International Potato Center (CIP) and the genebank.

Dr Ellis was one of seven recipients of the inaugural Legacy Award awarded by the CropTurst to individuals who have dedicated their careers to crop conservation. Six of the recipients are retiring managers at the vitally important genebanks of CGIAR, which conserve and share hundreds of thousands of seeds of food and forage crops.
