Biography

An Agronomist Engineer, specialist in plant breeding, I joined the Ministry of Agriculture of Costa Rica in 1983, from the beginning I worked in the cultivation of potatoes, in the area of ??seed production, I have taken courses in that area in the International Center for Potato and Biotechnology at CATIE, Turrialba.

I started in the biotechnology area in 1990, I worked in the installation and start-up of the tissue culture laboratory of the Carlos Durán Experimental Station.

In the area of ??genetic improvement, I work on the introduction, validation and registration of new potato varieties. In 1996, together with farmers from Costa Rica, we released the Floresta variety, one of the most used potato varieties in Costa Rica, from the International Potato Center.
