Muhammad Ibrahim is the current director general of CATIE. At IICA he served, among others, as associate director of Technical Cooperation; leader of the flagship project “Resilience and comprehensive risk management in agriculture”, IICA Representative in Belize. He has a Ph.D. in Agronomy and Environmental Sciences from the Agricultural University of Wageningen, the Netherlands. Recent publications include “Payment for Ecosystem Services” (a book chapter on the reclamation of degraded lands, 2011) and “Silvopastoral Systems for Mitigation of and Adaptation to Climate Change” (Tropical Forestry 2013). His areas of interest include understanding how market-based mechanisms and regulatory frameworks affect the adoption of silvopastoral systems.
