Specialist in Ecological Agriculture, focused on systems approach for pest management. I have worked for over 20 years on the use of antagonistic fungi and entomopathogenic microorganisms for the development of biological pest management alternatives.
Based at the Centre for Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education (CATIE) in Costa Rica, I coordinate the implementation of the CABI-Plantwise programme in Central America and the Caribbean, training and supporting technical staff on phytosanitary diagnosis and the use of plant clinic methodology to help reach farmers and reduce their crop losses. Since 2000, I have also been a professor on Integrated Pest Management supervising Master and Doctoral theses on topics that contribute to the development of crop management alternatives in the region.
