Juan Ariel Oporta is an Agricultural Engineer graduated from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN, Managua), he has a Master's Degree in Genetic Improvement. He worked as an extension agent for INTA in the Sébaco Valley, in vegetable production areas under irrigation systems, from 2012 to 2014 with small farmers. During the 2014–2016 period, he participated in research projects on irrigaion water depth and the use of wet-dry technique for rice cultivation with KOLFACI and FONTAGRO projects. He currently works as a researcher in genetic improvement at the INTA Rice Experimental Center, where, in addition to plant breeding research, studies are carried out on rice with simulation of rainfed environments. He is in charge of data monitoring at the TAINIC meteorological station, located in the Darío municipality.
