In 1971, Jorge finished his postgraduate training and joined the Wheat Improvement Group at EEA Marcos Juárez.
As a breeder of the INTA Program, he participated in the creation of 77 wheat cultivars, and played a fundamental role in the relationship with CIMMYT (International Center for Corn and Wheat Improvement), collaborating and accompanying Dr. Norman Borlaug in Argentina and in Latin America.
With his stamp of teamwork and love for the crop, he coordinated the Wheat Improvement Program and the National Cereals and Oilseeds Program of INTA, and always maintained a close relationship with other wheat breeders in the country and abroad.
He was a forerunner of INTA's technology linkage policy, coordinating public-private relationship agreements for the development and commercialization of wheat cultivars.
He was the author of more than 150 technical and scientific publications, and held a university teaching position between 1988 and 2009.
Retired a few years ago.
