Dr. Sebastián Villagra is Argentinian and, since April 2019, has led the project "Innovation and intensification of livestock farming to adapt and grow: Increasing the adaptive capacity and resilience of family systems for better-prepared extensive livestock farming in Argentina and Peru in the face of climate change."
He joined INTA in 1997 as a research fellow and is currently a Researcher with the Agroecology, Environment, and Production Systems Group at the Forest and Agricultural Research Institute of Bariloche (IFAB), INTA-CONICET. He is an Agricultural Engineer and completed a master's and a PhD at the University of Göttingen, Germany. He teaches the courses Small Ruminants and Cattle Production in Fragile Zones in the Bachelor's program in Agroecology at the National University of Río Negro, and offers postgraduate courses related to the sustainability of animal production systems in arid and semi-arid zones.
He has led various national and international R&D projects, coordinates research groups, supervises research fellows, and has published over 40 papers.
