Master of Science in Geophysics, University of Chile. Academic of the Department of Physical Sciences of the University of La Frontera and Head of the Satellite Remote Sensing Laboratory of said Department. His research topics are related to satellite remote sensing and spectroradiometry. In satellite remote sensing, he has specialized in environmental monitoring, with an emphasis on mapping spatial-temporal changes, with applications in volcanic eruptions, monitoring the loss of native forest, precision agriculture and forest fires, among others. In spectroradiometry, he has worked on the study of the effects of UV radiation on different agricultural crops, as well as in the analysis of multispectral information (VIS-NIR) related to phytosanitary prospecting in Nothofagus forests.
