Biography

Claudio Balbontín Nesvara is Chilean, Agricultural Engineer, Master of Science and Doctor of Agricultural Sciences. His work experience refers to jobs in agricultural research institutions in Chile, Mexico and Spain. Dr. Balbontín's line of research is mainly focused on defining the irrigation needs of crops, using the conceptual framework of water relations in plants and the use of satellite tools to improve efficiency in the use of water resources in the agriculture. He currently works as an irrigation researcher at the INIA-Chile Agricultural Research Institute (Intihuasi Regional Research Center, La Serena), where he leads the CAPRA Remote Sensing Laboratory and develops basic science projects (CONICYT), regional and international projects, technology transfer activities, financed with public and private funds.
