Graduated in Agronomic Engineering with a specialization in Plant Science from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the Universidad de Panama. Magister Scientiae in Plant Pathology and PhD in Sustainable Agriculture from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, Lima, Peru. In 1987, he started at IDIAP at the Centro de Innovación Agropecuaria de Chiriquí, as an agricultural researcher and is currently Project Manager "Ecological management of Cajanus cajan diseases to contribute to sustainable production". He has published various scientific articles in national and international journals. In 2012, he was awarded the “Germán De León” Medal as the best researcher in Panama. He has led research in genetic improvement, management of potato late blight, and contributed to the release of potato varieties and the integrated management of pests and diseases of economically important crops. Since 2005, has dedicated efforts to the search, development and use of biocontrol alternatives for diseases based on native microorganisms. His professional skills include sustainable production systems, plant protection, the formulation of research and innovation projects and part-time postgraduate teaching.
