Agricultural Engineer, Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Agriculture obtained in Moscow, Russian Federation. He joined IDIAP in 1997, dedicating to the genetic improvement of potatoes, and carrying out other important functions as National Director of Research and Innovation for Agribusiness Competitiveness, Technical Coordinator of the Experimental Station (IDIAP), Cerro Punta, Project Manager of Research Innovation in potato, sweet potato and soybean crops. Currently, he is the General Director of IDIAP, Panama and member of ALAP. He was awarded in 2016 the Medal “German De León” a best agricultural researcher. Among his main achievements is the release of three varieties of potato.
He is currently the Manager of the following projects: Implementation Project of an Early warning for the management of potato late blight (Phytophthora infestans), as an adaptation measure against the variability of climate change in Latin America and the Project: Obtaining and developing varieties of potatoes and sweet potato with high agronomic performance and nutritional quality.
