Biography

Agricultural Engineer, Master and Ph.D. in Agriculture obtained in Moscow. He joined IDIAP in 1997, dedicated to the genetic improvement of potato; he has also served as General Director of the institution, National Director of Research and Innovation for Agribusiness Competitiveness, Technical Coordinator of the IDIAP Experimental Station in Cerro Punta, Manager of Research Projects Innovation in potato, sweet potato and soybean crops and president of FONTAGRO; member of ALAP.

He was awarded in 2016 with the Medal of Merit “German De León” as “Best Researcher” in the agricultural sector in Panama. Among his main achievements are the release of four potato varieties and two biofortified sweet potato varieties. He is currently Manager of the Project: Breeding and development of potato and sweet potato varieties with high agronomic performance and nutritional quality.
