Pest Management Pesticides Agroecological Alternatives Teaching and Research

Biography

Interested in field work with small farmers, encouraging the use of ecological alternatives for pest control in the main crops of the different eco-regions of Bolivia, contributing to improving production systems and thus promoting food security.

In Agronomy Faculty, through the chair, the laboratory and the field research areas, work has been ongoing on strengthening the identification of insects/pests, ecological alternatives for pest management, such as the production of phytopathogenic fungi, whose work is aimed at academic education and peasant organizations with whom agroecological approaches are developed.

The development of teaching allows me to be updated and continue looking for alternatives with the aim of contributing to sustainable agriculture and in recent years research has focused on Sustainable and viable Agroecological Systems, through the management of Projects with a biological approach, focused on the incorporation and implementation of agroecological spaces, such as the first butterfly farm at the Cota-Cota Experimental Station, dependent on the Faculty of Agronomy of the UMSA.

I currently teach classes in the subjects of Agricultural Entomology, Plant Therapeutics and Integrated Pest Management, at the Faculty of Agronomy of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés.
