Biography

PhD in Agricultural Sciences, with a research focus on Crop Protection, graduated from the National University of Colombia, Palmira, Valle del Cauca. Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, with an emphasis in Phytopathology, graduated from the National University of Colombia, Bogotá. Agronomist from the Humid Tropics, graduated from the University of the Pacific, Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca. Research experience in projects related to diseases of banana, plantain, gulupa, broccoli, and lettuce. Teaching experience at the University of the Pacific and the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia, teaching courses in phytopathology and Integrated Disease Management. Research experience in: 1) Diagnosis of plant diseases, 2) Isolation and identification to the species level of phytopathogenic fungi through morphological, morphometric, and molecular analysis, 3) Extraction and identification of plant-parasitic nematodes to the species level based on morphological, morphometric, biochemical, and molecular analysis, 4) Evaluation of the pathogenicity of phytopathogenic fungi and plant-parasitic nematodes, 5) Bioinformatic analysis of DNA sequences.
